• Do I Need A Professional?

  We frequently find that individuals who feel they don't need a professional are the ones who could benefit the most. The best way to start is to set up a free consultation, where we can discuss your situation and see if we can help.

• What Is Your Price Range?

  For service work, we base the price off of a number of factors in order to accurately reflect the value provided. Some of those include how long it takes to complete the work, how much value we were able to provide, how many forms are required to be filed, and the amount of demand for our services. If you desire to get an estimate, the best way is to contact us and provide us with a description of the work you're in need of and a summary of your specific situation.

• How Do I Send You My Documents?

  When we begin work, we will send you a link to your own Verifyle Workspace to upload all of your tax documents to. Verifyle is an encrypted website created by Silicon Valley experts that allows you to send and sign documents securely. You can read more about them here.

Tax Preparation

• What Forms Do I Need To Upload?

  For individual tax return prepration, we will need (1) A copy of your prior year federal and state returns, (2) A copy of the driver's license for both taxpayer and spouse, (3) A copy of the social security cards for taxpayer, spouse, and any dependents you think are eligible to be claimed, and (4) All income and expense documents for the year. Examples include Form W-2 and Form 1099's. For businesses, we'll reach out to you with a detailed list.

• What is an Tax Notice?

  A tax notice is a official correspondence from the IRS or state taxing authority. It is always sent by mail. Paper notices represent the primary form of communication regarding tax matters. Each notice is different, but most are requesting a response to a discrepency between the taxpayers return and the information the authority has received from other sources. We can help you properly respond to the notice.

• Will You Look Over My Prior Year Returns For Free?

  Oftentimes, taxpayers are not sure as to the quality of work done by their tax preparer. The best way to figure this out is to have another set of eyes review the return. We offer that free of charge to anyone who wants it. We will look over the return and let you know what we find. Please contact us to get started.

• Are You Required To Report Errors To The IRS?

  No. If we find an error on the return, we are only required to inform the taxpayer of the error and the potential financial penalties of not correcting the error. We will not report the error to any agency. However, we do recommend fixing the error to avoid financial penalties and interest, and can assist you with that process if you desire.

• How Many Years Back Can I Request A Refund?

  For individuals, the statute of limitations for requesting a refund from the IRS is the later of either 3 years after the original due date, or 2 years after filing. This essentially means 3 years after the original due date, unless you file the return over a year late, in which case it will be 2 years from the date you first file the return.

• How Can I Check The Status of My Refund?

  You can check with the various taxing authorities using the links above under the "Refund Trackers" tab. The federal government is required to pay you interest on the refund if it takes over 45 days to be issued. Please note that even though the agencies will direct you to check with your tax preparer, we cannot control the speed in which the taxing authorities process the returns. We are only able to confirm that the returns were properly submitted to them.

• Are Refund Advances Offered?

  We do not offer any refund advances. We will always direct the government agencies to deposit any refund directly to your specified bank account.

• What is an Extension?

  An extension extends the filing due date of the tax return, typically an additional six months from the original due date. However, this does not extend the deadline to pay any tax due on the due date. Therefore, if we file an extension for you, we will use the information you have provided up to that point to estimate how much you will owe.

• How Do I Pay The Tax Owed?

  When we file your return or extension, we will request your bank routing number and account number so that we can schedule the tax to be paid at the date you specify. If you need to make an estimated tax payment or some other tax payment, you should go to irs.gov/payments to make the payment online. Make sure to print and save the payment confirmation number for your records. Many state revenue departments have similar online processes.

• What is an Enrolled Agent?

  Despite what the name might imply, an Enrolled Agent has no employment affiliation with the IRS. It is one of three designations that the IRS recognizes as sufficient to fully represent taxpayers before the IRS. In order to receive the designation, the tax preparer must undergo an intense three part tax examination covering individual tax laws, business tax laws, and the rules for representing clients before the IRS. They also must take continuing education courses related to taxation ever year.

• How does that compare with a CPA or a Lawyer?

  The main difference is the entity that issues the license. CPA and Lawyer designations come from the individual states, whereas the Enrolled Agent comes from the federal government. When it comes to taxation, CPA's and Enrolled Agents undergo the same testing and continuing education requirements.   ThinkOrSwim is one of the most popular trading and investing software options on the market today. It was previously owned by TD Ameritrade before being acquired by Charles Schwab in the early 2020s. One of the main attractions of the software is its charting capabilities, as well as its ability for users to hand code studies and strategies onto the charts.

• What is ThinkScript?

  ThinkScript is the computer coding language used inside of ThinkOrSwim brokerage software. It allows traders to customize the chart function inside of the software to assist in making buy and sell decisions. It is unique to the software and takes time to learn.
